Hand Brake assembly current condition, Shoes look newish and drums just need cleaning and cable in good condition.

Nice and clean under where the fuel tank was, just like it came out of the factory. Surprisingly enough that there was still fuel in the tank sloshing about but was not able to get it put, it was just trickling out but there was loads still in there so just left it.

Had to cut off the brake lines to remove axle. will make new ones.

Rear Wheel bearings off.

Undid the handbrake cables.
Cut the brake lines.
Unscrew the suspension and axle off mounts.
Fuel Breather pipes off and fuel level sensor (i think, some electrical thing plugged into tank) now unplugged from tank.
Tank removed.
Removed remaining parts of Brake pipes from the rear of the car.
making start on removing the front wishbones then steering rack.
I am going to fabricate pieces rather than try and replace entire arches. Not had a chance to start working on it but this is what I have removed ready for some work bearing in mind I am keeping my body kit so I am not looking for show quality..

. Firstly lets get this beast stripped down to chassis and find what need repairing and replacing.
, i would like to fabricate my own really and see what i could come up with that would be an interesting experiment, but thats time and money which alot of us dont have so i am just gonna keep it down to earth. Anyway its not like it helps performance wise, my idea currently is to get mine up and running original but not put alot of stuff back on. Its not like iam going to be carting 5 people in it, just use it for a bit of fun then when iam done just restore the rest for storage and the odd cruise. 
afraid to say almost the worst I've seen. There doesn't seem to be any consistency with how 80 vw's rust 
, thats given me great confidence, well to be honest i know it was bad from the outset bearing in mind its be sat outside in the GREAT British weather for around 1460 days or roughly 4 years, regardless how bad i am determined to save this Rocco because its a Storm. The breifly scimmed the welding website and that has great trips but at my uncles garage i think they will have people in mind to help with the welding etc... though i will give it a bash myself.
