Re: Introduce yourself
Hi all,
I'm Roger Mills (33), used to be a member on here (also RogerM) but have had no time to even really think about forums for the past 6 months or so!!!
I'm based in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. Have been around Dubs, mainly Mk2 Sciroccos, since the mid 90s.

I was very close to buying that myself mate.
How are the rims on it. thats the only thing that put me off, saying one wheel was damaged. Was it in bad condidtion?

Good luck with it. I was eyeing it up as a track day car myself. If you are returing it to stock will you be keeping the rims?

Re: Introduce yourself
Hi everyone, purchased this recently. very solid car.better than my daily mk1 gti underneath.Had a snapped cam belt, and was 430 mile round trip(well worth it tho) fitted cam belt kit, ran sweet after timing adjusted and new carb gaskets.
put some spax adjustables front and rear i had lying round, and some -40mm springs.
Got a pair of nos front wings to go on as the current ones are prity much beyond repair (will have a go tho,as i know how rare they are getting)
Plans for it are to tidy up all the bodywork,30 years of scuffs and some surface rust. Respray too.
Will be tackling all the work myself, got an abf lump lying round too that i may throw in.
here's my previous car that i built a few years ago.
hope to meet you all soon, will stop rambling now,be great to here your opinions on my new ride, cheers.Mark

Welcome - was that on ebay a while ago?
Whereabouts are you?
I like the Golf (on one of my favourite wheels too), I think I've seen pics of it before somewhere...
Looking forward to see the 'rocco progress - I think the abf has clearance issues with the bonnet on the mk1 rocco - worth looking in to before you go too far down that route.
Best of luck with it.

No, it wasn't on eBay, but the owner was trying to sell it on the old forum. I almost bought it, but it was too expensive.

Re: Introduce yourself
Cheers ryan for the abf info, will look into that, didn't even think bout that. Fit into mk1 golf ok .
Don't know if car was on egay recently, purchased for what i thought was a good price.(Bearing in mind how many come up for sale)
This car is extremely solid underneath, i was expecting to have to replace the sills and rear arches, rear panel etc, but all is sweet underneath.
will keep u all updated on progress.
cheers mark.

Re: Introduce yourself
Hey, I was a member on the old forum for a while, only just got around to starting to use the new one.
I've had my white, '88, mk2 Scala Carb for about a year now, and I'm loving it, its nothing special, the usual wheels, coilovers, Big breaks and some engine tinkering with a few more plans to come, made 99.5bhp when set up at a guess, so I guess its an improvement on the factory figures. Also got some recaros in it recently which I'm enjoying. I use it daily, so its not immaculate, but it's so much fun, and gets a lot of attention.
On winter wheels until I can sort my adaptors out:
And how it looks on the proper wheels:
I'll be at DC09 tomorrow and GTI international in a fortnight, so I'll hope to see some of you guys there.

Re: Introduce yourself
hello i am new here, this is my first scirocco (well second but we wont talk about the first one )
i have been into v-dubs for a long long time i am a mk2 golf GTI man heres another pic of the 'rocco with my pride and joy
i thought it would be a good idea to register on here for tips and ideas about the car.
its a scala in not bad condition been of the road for a few years and needs some work, but i am going to get it up and running as soon as i can. its solid and needs no welding but the 2 doors have been painted badly at some point so i will have to get them sorted also i think the timing is out cos i cant get it to start but my dad is coming up with the autodata book so will get it sorted
cheers
