Mk2 under bonnet felt/soundproofing.
Does anyone know if you can still obtain the soundproofing found under the bonnet on a mk2 Rocco? I had to strip mine off as it had seen better days. Cheers. Rob.

You certainly can Rob. Quickest and easiest is probably through VW Heritage though you could order it direct from Germany yourself.
If you go to VW Heritage the part number is C533-898-123 and it only cost me £85.00 including VAT and delivery in September last year …

If you’ve never removed one before and want an idea of what’s ahead of you check out my Project Thread on Lily.
Hate to admit though that the job hasn’t been finished as I ended up doing a much bigger repair than I’d envisaged.
Must get it done soon though as the shows are starting to loom.
Assuming though that you’re just doing a simple ‘remove and replace’ it’s not that difficult, just messy and time consuming.

Brilliant, thanks for the quick response guys. Lily looks amazing! Looks as though you've spent some serious time on that. The underside of 'Mono's' bonnet is a real shabby mess but is salvagable. So with this in mind i've taken it off and i'm repairing it in the summer house as we speak. I've turfed the mrs's garden funiture out so I can get it in :D

Use white spirit or turps to get all the old adhesive off, I used a paint brush to brush it on, left for a few minutes, makes the job easier.

Thanks for the tip
I've got some super duper stuff that I borrowed from work especially for that job, so i'll compare that against the white spirit/turps and let you know how I get on :)

Hey, hope Mono is doing okay. Just wondering if you ever got around to finishing this off?
