mk2 leather seats

Post by thebrief_1979 »

Are the black leather optional extra seats in a mk2 the same pattern/design as the storm interior - my question applies to the door cards also
I am trying to justify my modifying by saying it could be an optional extra
Pics of yours would be nice also
You can see where I am going here
Keep ur eyes peeled for a refurbishment thread soon

the leather interior in my black car came from (originally) a scala that was written off in 1992 - no idea what the door cards would've looked like though.

A friend of mine has a G plate mark 2 with a factory fit black leather interior, seats and door cards. AFAIK they look the same as the Storm ones, just in black. The history he has with the car says they were spec'd as an option when it was new.

So another question are the front door cards fully leather - some of the panels appear to be a thin leather - kind of paper texture to them - making me think some of the sections are not - as I am dying them black I need to know I have the right products

Have a look on here as this is what my seats and rear cards look like (taken from an 1985 GTI).

http://sciroccoregisterforum.co.uk/carf ... 13&t=10571

I have the door cards, see photographs, but never fitted them as the connection at the top front end is different.

On my car (1987) the connection is on the edge of the door panel, on the leather ones (1985) that I was going to fit it is on the front face.
There is also additional padding on the back to deaden any noise.

It is one of my "to do" jobs for this year.
