Electric Window Switches

Post by sciroccolady »

Hi All , new here and my first post/request. I have a 1992 Scala , two owners (me and my father before me) and still under 80,000 miles on the clock. Over time the window switches have packed up one by one but by swapping them around have managed to be able to operate drivers one . This has now ceased to function today with the window down ! The switches have all developed a mechanical fault rather than electrical, ie they wont click , and have gone floppy. Does anyone know of a supplier, new or secondhand and are they the same as maybe a golf ? Any help gratefully received , no fun with window down at freezing point ! Many Thanks Katie

Can you post a picture? Some electric windows were fitted by the dealers, some at the factory, and they're different. I think either is only likely to be available second-hand (although if you can find a part number, VW Heritage might be able to help).

If it is an original fitted set the switch is specific Scirocco with the following partnumber.

533 959 855

I do know they are not cheap if you find them.

Switches can be reconditioned :yup:

I have a "factory" pair from my 87 16v but I'm in the USA - you'd need to remove yours to double check that the connectors are the same.

If the switches are the same as the ones Joost mentions in the post above, then they are available from Volkswagen Classic Parts via VW Heritage - £41.12 each.

Alternatively, you could try ebay - I bought these

You may need to change the connector terminals though, as these come with standard spade terminals and I think the factory ones come with round pins.
