leak in boot ontop of slam panel

Post by james butler »

i had a leak in ma boot on the left hand side. inside the car above the left lamp was a large puddle of water that i couldnt work out where it was coming from.
turns out the struts at the top of the boot (the end that screws into the body shell) has two pathetic seals that were leaking water into the car. this was coming in the car from the rear seatbelt mounts dripping on the speakers and running down the inside of the interior onto the rear slam panel.
so any one with a leak in this area check the strut seals.
i replaced mine with a large piece of flat rubber cut to the same shape and size of the strut mounting plate. this seems to of worked. hooooorrrrrraaaaayyyyyyy! :chortle:
I dont mind project cars but I HATE SANDING!!!
