I'm new in town

Post by gtsteve »

Hi all. Just bought my first scirocco ready to start work on it. Paints a little ropey but needs wheels refurbing and lowering before anything major. Cant decide if I should colour code plastics or not, any thoughts?

Welcome to the forum matey, where are you based? Lots of good folk on here who are always liberal with advice on all things Rocco. If you need a bit, or some expertise just ask and it will come from all directions. Car looks tidy :good:

I'm in suffolk, this is one of the first cars in the county everyone else still uses horse and cart.
I'm looking forward to getting it all sorted over the winter (with a bit of driving in between) and getting to shows next summer.
Joined the register as it look friendly and full of people who know what their talking about.

My favourite colour just can't decide if I should colour code arches etc, but rate wheel refurb is going I'm not going to need to make a quick decision.
So far its taken 3 hours to prep 1 wheel and that was one of the best.

I wouldn't colour code - I do like colour coded cars, but I don't think the finish ever looks right if previously unpainted parts are painted. Maybe get some painted parts and repaint them in Helios?

cheers will do think I'm gonna go down the lowering kit route 60mm drop on springs and dampers rather than coil overs. This is gonna offer a better ride for the money I want to spend and I live on an estate with speed bumps.

I took the liberty of checking some prices anyway. AP Suspension provide a three different options for springs and one in particular I wanted to let members know about is a 40/30mm option front and rear respectively which will give a nice subtle nose down stance. And because it's only 40mm front, you won't need to change any of your shocks if they're in good nick. Price comes in at £92.00 inc VAT and delivery

Same with Supersport offering a 40/40mm kit at £94.50 inc VAT and delivery.

Many thanks
Yaz
