Mk2 with vr6

Post by Storm »

well sold the mk1 G wished i still have it but its a gone and not seen it for over a year :crying:

so got to thinking of a replacement not a mk1 as would not be the same as the 77
so think mk2 vr6 (may be turbo as i like power :diablo: )
as i see it a vr6 engine box in too the mk2
will needed to be done
.engine 3 mount points drivers side rear passages gearbox mount front gearbox/engine mount which will be cut from vr6 sub frame then welded to scriocco and extra metal the make stronger as well as the front scirocco beam mounting point

. 100mm drive shafts
.280mm brakes (still have my brake kits from the last lot i got made for here
16v golf disc rear scirocco 16v handbrake cables master cylinder from mk2 golf 16v
.make exhaust system 2.5in singe tail pipe 2 boxes
.cooling passat rad ?
. unit oil cooler unit ?
.fit wiring from the vr6 golf to scirocco i fit the full loom same as done to the mk 1g60
coil overs fitting uprated bushes all round
lower strut bars frame making
sound easy when i put it in too words

any thing you think i missing out

Mounting and drilling for cable change box.
Passat twin fan rad fits nice n snug under the front slam panel. That will give ya space for extra pipe work

are they the same ones that said you cant build a 2.1 or 2.3 16v engine or the ones that say that a 16v will not run on twin carbs

or the different one that say a 1.9 16v turbo will not run on a g60 ecu set and you cant get it to run 278bhp at the wheels and do 140 plus in a mk1

vr6 is about the same as a tdi set up and they say that a tdi is ok in a mk1

well i had 16v 8v g60 of all types of power I always build them myself when person say it will not work just to say it will work
the mk1 before the 16vt was running 14sec 1/4miles with big over sized wheels (17in) and they stop mk1 handling
when Tim run TSR he said to me why my mk1 scirocco run so well so it was build right with the best quality parts set up fitted to the car(wanted to pay me to go out and racer them again as it looked good for there business)

think Ryan was at castle combe that day as the sciroccoworld stand had my mk1 on they don't like the way it was mod but after the track time and have people all over the stand as to why a mk1 goes and stopped as quick when its as wrong looking Plus the marshall said it was fun to see a track day car people pissed off my a boy racers car lol

they said the same when i run a rs turbo escort van out there and was 4 wheel drifting :pilot: at the end of the day

its your car and you mod it the way you like it i just love making a car go better then it should

You can make just about anything work. Its having the balls, know how, time, cash, and an understanding other half....if you have those, then you can acheive anything.

one guy that said to me that vr's are heavy in roccos has a 2.1 16v.

but yes im sure its a a awasome conversion to do, a charged one will be great. i know a bloke from york with a vento vr6 thats been supercharged, you can here the charger from miles away :)

i would love one as a drag strip car

at the moment im thinking 20v 5v? people dont really seam to use them much and 170bhp and over 200 torques standard
makes me think it will be a good conversion????

With a nice big Eaton charger slapped on for good measure.

would you be going down the route of new mounts and strengthening the legs, or a modified subframe from a mk3?

i read theres a company called eurowise who make all the mounts and drivehsafts so it becomes a "plug and play" swap with regards to engine mounting. pricey mind, but comes with driveshafts etc.
