oil pump question
is the oil pump in the 1800 carb ex model the same as the 1800 inj dx model,the gears in the oil pump of my storm dx are chipped and i have low oil pressure ,i have a good oil pump out of a1800 carb ex ,a 1989 model and i was going to fit this into my storm,both pumps are identical except thr gears in the oil pump in the ex are longer by about 4 mm,will this make any difference,any help and advice will be appreciated.

In short yes... you should be able to change the intermediate shaft gear wheel over, but they should be the same, presuming it's coming off a similar year car.

Storm may well be solid lifter i really cant remember 100%, post 1985 was hydraulic lifter and afaik the oil pumps where different depending on solid or hydraulic

vw parts catalogue shows one pump listed throughout so they are the same no difference between hydraulic or solid lifter, dx same as ex etc
