he wants components though. those alpines are 2 way same as mine.

No worries on the head unit. Don't know why no one else wants it at that price. Think people prefer new rubbish over used quality. I'll have a look for some decent quality comps for you mate. There's a place I get discount who supply halfords. I'll be in there soon. Maybe tomorrow. Try ebay for some mint used ones, Some crazy bargains to be had on there.

Yea looked at 6x4s but wrote them off as i dont think they'll provide the sort of mid range bass im looking for. Altho it would be a hell of a lot easier!

What about 6x4s with a snmaller sub driver? 8 inch maybe? Would that work? (total guess based on too little knowledge but just a thought).

That probably would work, but not sure it would deliver enough bass. :D Not convinced by the pods in the front either.. gunna have them off today and try and figure out a "plan". I'll take lots of photos as i go so if anyone else wants to try it might make it easier. (its a big maybe..) :P

I'm going along similar lines with the pods. The way I see it I have a couple of choices:
1: Stay as it is with a flat door and the woofer hidden behind the card
2: Talk to the guys I use and look at using the door pocket to integrate the new speaker. Can see it being a bit of a gimp to get right but once it's done I should be able to knock them out, just need to get the measurements right
3: Go back to 6x4's up front and perhaps look at mounting something in either the boarded rear floor or the rear door cards I made.

Hmmmm

So i never got round to looking at the door cards today. Installed all the wiring for the amp. Got the sub setup in the boot, plugged it all in, and NOTHING. not a dicky bird.

I've checked the feed from the battery, fine. I've checked the earth, fine. Checked the remote/switchy feed, fine.

Both have 12/13V when earthed/tested NOT attached to the amp. When testing the volts at the input to the amp, (ie across the block) voltmeter shows about 3V. Anyone got any ideas on what i can test tommorrow to check if the amp even works?

And if it doesnt, does anyone know where i stand with regards to returns etc if i bought through ebay? I paid through paypal, not sent as a gift so i should have some cover?

Sorry for the long message! Dan

Just ask the seller for a refund. They'll probably be happy to give you one if it doesn't work and you return it. No need to go straight to the authorities, ie paypal. People don't take kindly to that.

Already messaged the seller, seems like a genuine kind of chap. To be honest really hoping i can get it to work, its perfect for what i want and it took me ages to find one!!

Rather avoid going through paypal / raising a dispute etc, but its nice to know its there as a backup.

Yeah I've used it myself once or twice but best saved as a last resort. Best of luck with the amp. Wish I could tell you how to suss if it's knackered or not. If it were me, I'd open it up and look for a burnt out component. If there's a smell comong off the circuit board when you open it, something's definitely gone.

Haave you checked the fuses on the amp?
I'd expect to get no volts if one's blown, but you never know...
There could be internal ones too - not just the blade efforts on the outside of the case.

Forgot to mention, have checked the inline fuse on the wiring and the fuse on the outside of the unit. Both are fine, will get it open and have a little look today. Hoping its something obvious and easy to fix!

Double checked all the wiring today. Obvious stupid fault on the manufacturers side, The remote feed and Earth feed are labelled differently on the unit and the manual. (doh!) Swapped them, this resolved the voltage issue. Still no power/sound. Starting to get annoyed at this point...

So gave up and took it to an installers, who promptly pointed out it was broken. :( Back to ebay then!! Messaged the seller so now just waiting for a reply.

Back to ebay for an amp! Unless anyone has one circa 400/600W RMS they wanna shift? :P

Complexly off subject fella you still looking for a component set up? Got a lovely alpine set up: tweeters, woofers and cross overs.
May get rid of it as I may try something new
