Today sees the old girl, fly through her MOT and also a few more jobs get done. First up the knackered boot lock seal gets changed.
Then i Tcut the silver highlighting off the tailgate badges, to get the clean, black look.
Then turn my attentions to cleaning the interior, but not before fiiting a CD head unit. Turns out that whoever removed the radio that was previously fitted, pretty much wrecked the sides of the upper center console, so i will replace this sometime soon.
Then a good clean of the manky interior, the front seats will need doing again, as the dirt is really ground in.
Tomorrow i intend to fit a pair of brass parcel shelf brackets that i got off Tempest last year, theres a small water leak form one of the heater hoses under the bonnet, so i will fit a new clip to that and i also want to give the alloys a decent clean up. It drove brilliantly today, to and from the mOT station, its first decent run under its own steam for over 9 years. I am really happy with how things are turning out, the two things that do let it down are a hole in the upper bolster on the drivers seat and several dents on the bonnet and roof caused by lots of stuff being piled up on the car while it was parked up for years in the previous owners garage. Theres an upholstery company near to me that claims it can repair the seat bolster for about £40=50 and ive been given the business card of a guy who does mobile dent removal, and he comes highly recommended, so hopefully these problems can eventually be put right.

Oh, and i also fitted a leather gearstick gaitor and a leather handbrake cover (from an Audi GT Coupe).

I have done similar work undeneath my scirocco ove the last year or so inc PAS and now the bugger wont run lol an im gutted!!

Ok, so today the brass parcel shelf clips are fitted, the water leak sorted and the alloys cleaned. I also changed the o/s front speaker as the paper cone was knackered. The car came with a Uniscan alarm and Nutronic immobiliser fitted, but although the remote locking worked and the alarm worked ok, it has a habit of locking and unlocking the doors as i drive along. Its probably a duff connection somewhere, so for now i've just taken the fuse out to stop the alarm working altogether, the immobiliser still works fine. I gave the bonnet another Tcut and polish and it looks better, but i think im going get it repainted properly in the new year. The starter motor was a bit sluggish, so i changed that too today and its spot on now.

If you're feeling brave, why not wet and dry the bonnet and then maybe get one of those polisher things that Alex has? not a rotary as such, can't remember the name of it, but it might be better and cheaper than a respray

Due to the dents, from having stuff piled on it over the last 8 years, it really needs sorting properly, its got a lot of tiny stone chips, but il live with it for now. Theres an agency driver at my works, whose also a bodyshop man who says he'l sort it for me when im ready. I've seen his work before and hes damn good. But, thanks for the offer buddy.
