I know another Peirberg question...

Post by nick sparrow »

....ok I am getting there.... I know the general consensus regards our friend the Pierberg 2e. My problem is I currently cannot afford a weber to replace it but I am making some headway in terms of getting it running better. I have now disconnected all items connected to the auto choke setup. I have no idea what has been done to this carburettor before I owned it. But I am working my way through it slowly, the butterflies now both close correctly, and I have been finding the engine is running too rich!
Now my issue is the mixture screw is screwed right down and if I back it off it makes not a lot of difference the engine idles a wee bit rough but it does not change really…does this mean something is blocked?...any ideas would be gratefully received…….
Also my 1985 Scirocco I was looking into replacing the rubber suspension bushings with the kit from BugPack?....should I be ordering the Mk1 or the Mk2 kit.....?

regards
