in tank fuel pump 4 injection conversion
to convert from carb to injection, can i buy the in tank fuel pump for the scirocco and fit it straight into my petrol tank? or are they different? the golf one is massive and has no chance of fitting.

Re: in tank fuel pump 4 injection conversion
i used a pump from a bmw that looked like this http://www.bmwpartsweb.com/images/produ ... -BOSCH.jpg and made up a little bracket to mount it under the rear of the car where the accumulator sits on an injection car.

ahh very nice. down to the scrappy i go! does it matter which bmw i get it from as the pumps will have diferent pressures for different engine sizes wont they? or will the fuel pressure regulater deal with this.
cheers nate

Re: in tank fuel pump 4 injection conversion
What age is your car? The late Scirocco injection cars have a lift pump in the tank, and a separate pump under the car. This is probably what you want, although I'm not sure if the injection lift pump will fit in a carb car's tank.

Re: in tank fuel pump 4 injection conversion
my cars on a h plate so thats 1990. if the fuel pump doesnt fit i could do what nate said and fit an inline fuel pump from a beamer. the only concern i have is the pressures the different pumps will give out as i dont want to damage anything longterm like the pressure regulater

Re: in tank fuel pump 4 injection conversion
I can't see how you'd damage anything. There are plenty of people running kjet pumps on lower pressure systems. The regulator takes care of it.james butler wrote:my cars on a h plate so thats 1990. if the fuel pump doesnt fit i could do what nate said and fit an inline fuel pump from a beamer. the only concern i have is the pressures the different pumps will give out as i dont want to damage anything longterm like the pressure regulater

Re: in tank fuel pump 4 injection conversion
The lift pump will fit your tank no problem. The 55 litre tank is the same unit on both carb and injection cars. Its only the earlier cars that have different tanks between carb and injection, and a lift pump will still fit an early carb tank anyways...

Re: in tank fuel pump 4 injection conversion
I've converted to injection from a carb'd car and I'm currently running a single fuel pump mounted up in the scuttle..Works perfectly well.
