Removing tar from bodywork

Post by brewstu »

Hi all, I drove through some roadwors the other day and when I went to wash my car I noticed some bits of tar stuck to my doors. Does anybody know of a good way to remove these without damaging the paint.
Cheers
Stu

Thinners or petrol on a cloth, work swiftly and have some warm soapy water ready to wash it off with after.

be careful if you use thinners - it will take some types of paint off. shouldn't take the original paint off, but if you haven't owned it from new there's no knowing if it's had any paintwork redone

Autosmart Tardis. No other tar/glue remover will touch it. Check eBay, you can pick up samples there as its rather expensive.

butter will probably work well. it's good for getting gloss paint and PU expanding foam off your hands
