I keep getting a rattle underneath the car when decelerating from highspeed or going around corners :(
I have narrowed it down to the centre heat-shield near the handbrake cables and my exhaust sitting off centre so it hits one side of the shield..... have made attempts at moving the exhaust which moves back over time, tried moving the heat shield up which it only moves a nats thumb so it aint dropped that much.
I am seriously thinking of just ripping the heatshield off because its getting on my nerves that much!!
Anyone know if this will cause a problem with heating of the handbrake cables/unside of car??
Or have you had this problem and solved it via another way??
Heat-shield is gonna be ripped off!!!!!

you may be able to bend the heat shield slightly to move it away. you could also try loosening the joints in the exhaust so it hangs slightly better. if the exhaust is moving excessively, you may find you have an engine mount or two going soft, or that fitting some stiffer exhaust mounts might help. it could also be the shield has corroded around one of the mountings so it has dropped down over the bolt. take the bolt out and fit a penny washer before refitting
or just turn the stereo up ;)

Thanks for the reply..... there is no bolt holding it up, but you can't push it up much more than it is already so dont thing that will help.
Its pretty bent out of shape, so was thinking of taking it off the car and sorting it out once and for all..... I presume as it has no bolt - ya just unclip the mounts from the handbrake cables and then slide it out??

Save yourself the hassle, just get rid! The worst thing that'll happen is the cab might be a tad warmer during these cold cold mornings.
