Hey guys
I gave VW in my town a call today and they informed me they wouldn't be able to supply me with an exhaust for my car, its obsolete. So i asked another local parts dealer for german cars but had the same reply.
Ive been looking on Ebay but im unsure which exhaust system i need.
Im sure i need the full system as its blowing from a hole on the back box and the front section.
Could someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks
Mike

Re: Replacing exhaust on mk.2 1988, 1.6 GT
Hi Mike,
I had trouble finding a system for the 1.6 as well. It's different to that found on all the 1.8 models, so anything for them is no use if you want a direct replacement. I ended up fitting the exhaust and downpipe from a 1.8 to save the trouble! Good luck with your search.

I would say go into ebay and typing in 'Scirocco exhaust' seems to throw up a few different types for the 1.6 and the 1.8. If not what about maybe a golf mk1 pipe?

I did do that but i wasn't sure if the system would fit mine.
Obviously i'd like to be 100% that im buying the right system.

Have you looked on vagcat to get the relevant part numbers? Might help. I think eurocarparts stock exhaust bits too?

Surely a 1.8 one and a sleeve pipe will do the job, to connect to the 1.6 downpipe?
The car is the same shape, so the likely difference is in the bore size of the system, presumably?

Yeah I'm sure it would, I needed the 1.8 downpipe to clear my anti roll bars :)
