Aaaaaargh. The fuel filler neck bites!

Aaaaargh....

I drove to my local VW specialist on Saturday to ask the guy to get me a fuel filler neck as I knew mine was corroded. The garage (strangley, was closed). On my way home my car started jerking, a strange buzzing sound started and then the car started to stall at low revs.

Yes....I think I've got water (and probably lots of other crud) into the system...the day before never stopped raining and there was A LOT of water on the road.

So, I deerately rang round some garages and miracously found a breakers yard / VW specialist that had just taken a fuel filler neck out of another scirocco. I took the car over to them and I'm hoping (fingers crossed) that it will be ok.....they are going to fit the part, drain the tank, put on a new fuel filter, and possibly will need to replace the fuel pump....it was that making the buzzing sound.

I'm just hoping (please GOD) that it hasn't damaged the fuel injection system!!!!! please please.....

I should know by four o'clock today!

Hopefully the filter in the engine bay will have caught anything that got that far.

It shouldn't need a new pump either..Mine has been whining and buzzing for the best part of two years and stull pumps the juice through at a good strong pressure.

Hi richradio.Do you know how they intend to drain tank?Is there a plug somewhere? I got exactely same prob.At moment I'm running from a five gallon tank in boot!

lift the bottom of the rear seat out, undo the 3 screws and lift the round flap up, then unscrew the sender from the top of the tank
