painted rear lights
well i got bored yesterday and decided to pop the rear lights off the car for a quick clean up. once cleaned i had a great idea......lets paint them.
so i pulled out the colour match spray can from the dogs kennel (don't ask) and gave the lights two light coatings of red paint.
then
get the wifes nail polish remover and some kitchen towel and wiped the paint back off of the raised lines, obviously the paint remained in the recessed lines. then i popped them back on. how chuffed am i? they look great!
pics coming soon

Re: painted rear lights
Yea looks good what tint spray did you use? The red I used faded in about 6 months, but the black is pretty solid on mine ..
Here's a pic of my first attempt:

Dont have any of my current ones strangely enough!

*Sniff* My old Scala is creeping into the picture there.
Might give the black tint a go on my Scirocco. Or I may just look for some Scala rear lights. Not sure yet. Come to think of it, I haven't really looked at the rear lights on mine yet, not even sure what they look like!

Def worth a go mate - I think the black tint looks better than the stripes but its individual opinions of course..goaferboy wrote:bluestreak56 wrote:Yea looks good what tint spray did you use? The red I used faded in about 6 months, but the black is pretty solid on mine ..

Re: painted rear lights
hmmm i cant believe i didnt find this thread sooner. i was thinking of this BUT i was going to use a roller and paint the raised bit of the rear lights where the black lines used to be.
any thoughts as to which would be better?
Ben
p.s. im assuming your lights still work fine?

Re: painted rear lights
I was told that if you get a spray can and spray paint onto a sheet of tin foil, you can press it onto the light and it colours the raised bits. Haven't tried it yet but may give it a shot in the near future...
