Faulty MFA....

Post by jxp »

I have a fault on my MFA. It is just showing 99.9 mpg. Looked at a few threads and seems to look like a faulty speed sender. Anyone for one for sale??? Dont want to pay dealer prices if can help it.

Cheers

This is a commom problem and occurs when as mentioned the vacuum sensor stops working. There was a post up on on a US forum depicting this issue:

http://www.sciroccoregisterforum.co.uk/ ... f=11&t=960

It could however also be a problem with

- The speed sensor
- The vacuum hose itself (if this has split fallen off etc)

Best advice would be to buy another set of clocks (same make either Motometer or VDO depending on what you have) test it in the car for a few miles to ensure it works, if so change over the vacuum sensor and speed sensor.

Shouldnt be too expensive on ebay, just make sure you buy clocks with the same number of connection pins at the bottom as yours (to connect to the wiring loom) - mine has 2 pins. Also ensure the MPG calculator is working.
