how can i go about getting this look?

and if i do take them out is there anywhere i can get a long badgless (or badgeful) grill? or will i have to find someone selling one?

You will still have main beam dude, the headlight bulbs are "duel element" so they light up brighter on main beam, the inner lights are just spot-lights really dude.
Grillies were on eBay for ages, failing that isn't there an old Passat grillie you can use? MK2 Golf ones will fit also, with bodging. There was a guide on here a while back, have a search dude
