Hello & Welcome
I personally would check the condition of the fuel filler neck. These can rot and let water into the fuel! A known problem on Scirocco's

cheers, is this a costly replacement? sorry but total newby to cars, never mind Scirocco's
Re: New to Scirocco
the mk2 rocco is based upon the A1 chassis (mk1 golf) so many parts can be shared with these.
Known problems: as mrmender said, the filler necks (become rusty and deposits in the petrol tank leading to blockages as well as water in the tank) also where the clutch cable goes through the bulkhead is a weak spot which eventually rips the bulkhead!
What engine do you have? carb or inj?
But if your new to cars I would highly recommend this theory: if it ain't broke, don't fix it! You'll only create hassle for yourself.

So true, keep it serviced and ontop of the small problems that will creep up and enjoy it. Or like me allways tinker with it, break stuff, spend more money on it and hate it even moreMrP wrote: But if your new to cars I would highly recommend this theory: if it ain't broke, don't fix it! Re: New to Scirocco
first thing with all new cars is an oil and filter change!
then fillerneck and fuel filter (found inline under the bonnet)
