Post by RoccoGuy »

how do you go about removing all the chrome trim on the mk1 storm? i'm prepping my car for paint and want to take it all off so i don't damage it.

its pretty much every bit off trim i need to get off, around windows, bump strip bits, bit near the sill...

Most of the chrome trim is just clipped on, the bits on the sill have plastic clips behind them, once you get one end off the rest comes of easy (famous last words!)
I'll try and get some pictures posted so you can see what I'm on about.

I found the chrome trim around the door windows was the hardest to get off.

Do you have the metal trim around the front and rear screen? if it metal its might be easier as it does get a bit bent getting it out, there is a J shaped hook holding it in the seal, its a right pain to get it back in.

I'll sort out my pictures and post here for you.

By the way, see the thread "trim clips" by me in this section, you can see the rear window trim, that just pulls off once you get the metal trim painted the same colour as your car off.
