Thermostat Housing Water Pump

Post by jxp »

Has anyone had any issues when changing their waterpump????

Got a new pump (pn 201440111)from Europarts along with a new thermostat. However I can not get the thermostat housing (The plastic housing) back on.
On the old pump with thermo and seals in place the housing fits perfect, but on the new part it doesnt. The housing has a lip that fits inside the waterpump but there just is not enough room with the thremo and seal in place.

Went back to Europarts today and tried both the pumps they supply and same problems. So can only think VW have changed the plastic housing.....So I am going to the dealers to order one and see. Will also go to GSF and check theirs out.

Hope this is clear. Will try get a few pics at lunch time.

Anyone had any similar issues..........So frustrating :ire:

Has an additional gaskett so wonder if this is needed if you have the older version of the thermostat cover...... Work in progress then
