OK chaps, my carb'd car runs and injection cam at the mo, but I'm looking to get a more aggressive Kent/Piper/Cat cam in the comming weeks. Dont wanna go too mental with 285+ cams as its a daily that has emmissions problems due to it being carb'd, was just wondering what the standard VW cam is compared to some aftermarket cams.
Got a spare camshaft that I removed from a 1.8i dx engine. The engine wasn't well due to a failed piston and I replaced it with a 2ltr unit. When I removed the cam I noticed some markings stamped into the end, TSR FR 22. I've assumed this is a fast road profile from TSR but I don't know for certain. Maybe someone can shed some light on this. There's nothing on TSR's current website but the cam could be a good few years old. It's in good useable condition and is £45 inc. postage if anyone wants it.

Didn't you start by saying you had an injection cam? That's the same as a DX one.
An aftermarket one up to 270 ish duration will be a good fast road compromise. If you've got the money, get the cylinder head ported, and you need to get the carb rejetted to suit.

Yes mate that is correct, just got my cam delivered, its about 270ish degree and I already have a Ported and Polished head fitted, weber was recently rejetted to suit the head work.
You'll maybe need to do it again for the cam, it'll want more fuel. Try it and see though.
