little story... well about 18 months ago had my hours cut right down at work, money been tight and had to take car off road, car has been in storage now for last 18 months
well today decided enough is enough and i want it back on the road, so trip to halfords and bought a new battery , put it in and after 30 seconds of trying it fired up... where my garage is, its pretty quiet so drove up and down, only about 10 miles per hour and its all came back
couple of loose headlights and with the help of sean ( gtxtra) whos sent me a new adjuster that will be sorted tomorrow
have a bit of smoke though under bonnet from manifold ( dust burning off do you guys think?)
anyway my main question main checks before mot on friday what are common failures on these and what should i be looking for
gt2 on weber carb
thanks
my gt2
Re: my gt2
If it's been stood for that long you need to be checking the brakes and wheel bearings. Once that's done, just do the usual - lights, exhaust, any rust underneath - sills, brake/fuel lines etc and then hope for the best. Also make sure you give it a service and a good run out before getting the emissions checked.
I take my car off the road now in the winter and it's great to get back behind the wheel.
Good luck
