head gasket
Basicly the head gasket on my rocco needs replacing and im in two mind whether to get it changed or buy another car. The car is quite rough and at present roccos seem to be selling for peanuts. So what are peoples thoughts?
also the engine seems to be burning some oil would this be due to the head gasket?
cheers

Re: head gasket
Burning oil could be that the valve stem seals are going, not a bad job and your half way there if you replace the headgasket.sidewalkdave wrote:Basicly the head gasket on my rocco needs replacing and im in two mind whether to get it changed or buy another car. I personly think that roccos have shot up abit of late, it could be worth sourcing replacement panels to tidy her up then think about outing it, but if you do the jobs needed is it really worth parting ?

Re: head gasket
There is only one unmarked panel which is the passenger side wing every other part is dented or scratched and it just seems to me a decent rocco can be had for around £800 at the moment
also i would proberly not be able to carry out the work myself which is quite a big expense

Where abouts are you located?
I say do the work on it. It wouldn't take much to get it upto a standard you'd be pleased with. These cars are simple to work on and parts are fairly cheap + a lot of other VAG parts can be made to fit. As for panel work, get a dent puller and a pot of P38 and you'll have it smooth and shiney in no time!
