Brake Bleeding (New Calipers)

Fitted new calipers and brake hoses to my GTX. Have bled the system using pressurised bleeding kit which usually works really well but with the new calipers I can't get anything like a firm pedal. No air bubbles when bleeding at all.

Any ideas what the problem could be?

Could be air trapped in MC, I think the 2 person method is more reliable for purging

Have the got the new callipers on the right way round with the bleed nipple at the top?

Still struggling with this issue but just noticed something. Surely what what have highlighted is not correct? This much should not be visible? I think the sleeve shown is too long so even when the bolt it tightened its against the sleeve but can not bring the caliper rigjtnup to the carrier? I did notice slight difference from the old calipers to the new. One of the sleeve protrudes on the new. Thus was notnthe case with the old caliper.

Any advice appreciated.

Yes mine have the same problems (not tight to carrier and this leads to movement as only tight to carrier at 2 point (the stainless sleeves.

The calipers I bought weren't really cheap. Going to try to find better ones. Maybe Pagid.

shouldnt make a diference what calipers you have you should still get a firm pedal
i dont have much faith in pressure/vacuum bleeders, theyre good to get the fluid through but not to finish the job
use the 2 man method and start from the rear right then front left
then rear left and front right 5 pumps and bleeds per corner
if you cant get a firm pedal after doing this a couple of times you have a bigger problem
my first thoughts are a bulging flexi hose under pressure

Hoses are new and pedal used to be ok with old calipers.

Do you mean in regards to the amount of slider showing? I think that’s probably normal if I understand the pictures
You should be able to get a firm pedal and you have to bleed them diagonally
It takes time but it must be done in a set procedure or you will be chasing a bubble or 2 around the brake system
There’s definitely no leaks? Everything is tight?

Someone else suggested could be master cylinder so I have changed it (the old one looked ancient see photo) and I will refilling and bleeding the system tomorrow.

Oh well, still no success. New discs, pads, calipers, master cylinder, news drums and shoes and hoses and slave cylinders at the rear. About 50 litres of brake fluid, pressure bleeding device as well as endlesss hours of 2 man bleeding and the brake are virtually non-existent. Spongy would be a massive under statement. Virtually zero stopping power. (Most recent job was new calipers and that was the start of the problem) I think these calipers are cheap crap maybe.
Have has Sciroccos since 1988, 17 years I have had this GTX, had a GT before this, another GTX before that and a GTI before that.
Currently the amount of driving pleasure is tiny and far out weighed by the constant work on this car. For the first time in 34 years I am wondering is it worth it.
