One of the few accessoroes for the Scirocco listed in the circa 1990 UK VW accessories brochure. Not the prettiest roof bars I've seen from Votex, I'm guessing rarity may be their biggest asset.

Who or what was Votex? Were they a VW subsidiary? They made the "OEM" mudflaps I have fitted, VW & Wolfsburg logo et al.

Yes Votex is a Volkswagen group subsidiary, with part numbering fully integrated into Volkswagen's parts range, unlike Quantum which was a brand name originally introduced by VAG UK I think in the 1980s to market a range of UK-specific accessories for VW and Audi as well as aftermarket parts covering all makes.

Apparently Votex is a shortened form of the rather clumsy name VW originally gave the company when it was launched in 1974 - Volume Trade and Export Company. The VOTEX brand was officially dropped by VW in 2007 when the company was renamed Volkswagen Accessories:
