Mk2 restoration

Hi guys thanks for having me. First post so please let me know if it’s in wrong arena. Will mk3 golf gti. Engine , running gear etc fit mk2 if so any complications expected would be greatly appreciated as this will be my first restoration.

Anything will fit with enough work but fitting the Mk3 Golf running gear is complex as I believe they Mk3 Golf has a front subframe?

You might need to check which engine you have (get the engine code) as some are to tall to fit under the bonnet, and check which gearbox you have.

What car are you starting with, carb or fuel injection?

Common for people to us the Mk3 Golf engine block and the standard head.

Some ideas for you, Mk1 Golf is the same running gear as a Mk2 Scirocco.

What wrong with the the original engine and running gear or is it all missing?
