I got a 2015 on a 65 plate r line scirocco and have a knock on the rear are the shocks a common fault on these as the car has done 45372 miles sound like the drivers side or is there anything else it could be please many thanks

They can be prone to fail and are not cheap. About £230 each from TPS
It can be a harsh ride. I have replaced shocks all round. Mounts all round. Lower arms and bushes. Front wishbone and ball joints. Drop links all round. Rear anti roll bar bushes. And still a little harsh but handles like a dream.
Ensure everything in the boot is correctly stowed.
Then check you boot for correct adjustment. The bump stops have a Allen screw in the middle. Undo this and pull out a bit. Tighten and then try again. Do not over do it or the boot will be difficult to shut.
Then check behind the trim in the boot. The rear parking module is known to rattle.
