GT for sale eBay and Car and Classic - peculiarities

Post by Lukeh17 »

Hi,

I just noticed the car in these adverts:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Scirocco- ... SwXj1eao1S

https://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C1206670

Same car but I'm interested as to why in the car and classic ad it looks more original than on the eBay ad. Why are there suddenly scala rear lights on there and the early 'scirocco' decor?

C&C ad was 26th Feb and the ebay ad started today - so maybe he's made the changes to make it more saleable.
Anyway, "barge pole". Obviously has a running issue and the entire interior has been swapped (although this might be a positive as GT seats are rubbish).

If you want a solid, genuine mk2 that has had ££££ spent - look no further than the classifieds on here.

Would this interior sold by the same seller last week be the original one from this car:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rare-VW-Scir ... 7675.l2557

If so, judging by the amount of wear on the driver's seat, I wouldn't be at all confident that the 38,000 miles on the clock is genuine.

Yes that’s the original GT style seats........

I think I would want to see some paper work to back up the mileage.

It’s the sort of thing you need to see in the flesh and have a very good look for evidence of a respray, check for factory waxing around the engine bay and scuttle area. Paint does look good in the pictures and can’t spot rust around the door handles or along the bottoms of the doors.
No pictures of the underneath of the car and the bonnet has the usual crusty edges, driver side rear black trim also missing.

With changing the seats and carpets it’s now no longer an original complete car.
