No fuel from injectors when ignition on?

Post by malmac »

Hi, ive got a mk1 scirocco gti which is causing me some grief.
I cant get it to start.
We've had the injectors out, when you manually lift that flap up on the metering head, fuel sprays out of the injectors fine. But when you turn the ignition on, nothing will come out.
Its really frustrating, there's a good spark, the fuel pump is working ok too, i can hear it.

Anyone offer any advice?

Many thanks
Mal.

You say that "when you turn the ignition on, nothing will come out."

Fuel comes out when the flap lifts, but the flap will only lift if there is airflow between the metering head and the inlet manifold.

You must have the plastic intake pipe connected between the two, otherwise there is no airflow.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

When we lifted the flap manually, petrol sprayed out fine, we then put everything back together, apart from loose injector.
You turn ignition on or spin engine over, nothing will come out of injector?

Double check timing or any vacuum leaks/pipes missing.

Long read but may give you some things to check over....
