Hi all,
Firstly, great website, lots of useful info!
Just purchased what appears to sadly be a rare model, an 83 GL Auto. This was my first car back in 1990, although that was a Cosmos Blue example with reg JGE 600Y (Glasgow) which fell off the radar back in 1998. I had it for three years and had to sell as the insurance went through the roof... If anyone knows what happened to her let me know.
Regretted selling ever since and been looking for years for this or one like it, and finally found JWC 56Y a couple of months ago. She is in astonishing original condition, Diamond Silver with just 48k on the clock. Rust free all but for a few stone chips. Looks like the hidden bits have been rust protected all over too.
Immaculate inside and I dare say in better nick than the one I had in 1990. A few bits to attend to, but all in hand. Just had a full service and MOT. Eventually passed after a fog lamp and break balance sorted out.
Anyway, look forward to posting if I have any sticking points.
Russ
This is a lovely car, its the same spec (GL, auto, single wiper) and colour as mine, although my version is a total dog with multiple issues and problems, and it's on an X plate
I hope to see this around one day as I'm over in Peterborough and occasionally venture over to Spalding.
Thank you. They are a real rarity, only 4 left on the road with 11 SORN. Worth working your way through the problems. Ask Ed!
I may well get over to Peterborough on the odd occasion.
Top tip, if you need a colour match for your paint, call MOVAC who are in Peterborough, they can supply VW spec paint for any paint code!

here is a link to etka, its the vw parts database, has all part numbers for scirocco's , link here is to the fuel filler system, might be able to check ya cap for a part number and compare. also has the part number for the seal, not sure if its still available. https://volkswagen.7zap.com/en/rdw/scir ... 01-201010/
Great website, better than the VW Classic, could never find what I wanted! Anyhow, they are not available any longer, already inquired.
Anyhow, found an aftermarket replacement locking cap at Halfords, looks the same, hopefully it will come with a seal! https://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/sto ... _334440080
