Hiya,
My 1988 Scala has got a very low idle. It revs fine and drives without a problem but the whole thing shudders when in park, nuetral and drive (automatic).
If I turn on all the electrics within the car, the problem gets worse and battery light starts to flicker. Has not cut out yet...but i dont want it to get any worse.
I am rubbish with cars, is this a case of tightening the accelerator cable? or is there something else amiss?
THANKS!
Very Low idle, not cutting out but kinda annoying!

It might just be that you need to adjust the idle speed. How you do this will depend on whether it is an injection or carb model, and someone will be along soon to give you some detailed instructions I'm sure! (It basically just involves turning a screw, very easy!)

Thanks for the reply. I had a long poke around in the engine this morning and FINALLY located a hole in one of the pipes giving air to the engine...technical i know. Putting my finger over the hole brought the engine to a nice smooth idle. Am hoping this will also improve the fuel economy too, which is pretty good anyway!

Hey Tweak,
What colour is your 'rocco, sounds suspiciously like my old motor.
'Twas greeny/blue when I had it, a guy called Lewis bought it off me
and started to paint it white! - not the same car is it?
Funky pic of it in my sig. - I still got the tailgate badges for it

Lol,
Pm me ur address and I'll dig the badges out - I think I've still got the scala ones for the
B pillars as well!
Your car is well sound mechanically, I did loads of miles in it and it just got
faster and faster
The carb has a leaking mount which is letting a bit or air in hence the low
idle - I think? It never stalled on me at all tho' - just felt like it was gonna
shake itself to bits. I just got used to knocking it out of drive when coming
to a stop.
Regards
Ady
