Any manufacturer recommendations for an oil pump?
Vw heritage sell a topran pump but I'm not convinced topran are all that good? Any had any experience
Vw have just quoted me £190 for a genuine pump
I bought one from GSF about 12 years ago but can't remember what make it was and I've never had a problem with it.
If I did have a problem the oil buzzer and light would flash before I did any damage to the engine and I could go through another 2 oil pump for the price of a VW one.
Simple job to change over the oil pump and worth fitting a rubber sump gasket while the sump is off.
Make sure the oil new pump come with a plastic baffle as the old one may break into little bits if you try to remove it.
cheers mark1gls
ive got pressure (30psi at 2000rpm) and no lights on the dash but im trying to cure noisy tappets which i think may be low pressure when hot.
cant be certain but im gonna change it to be on the safe side as i saw the state of maccs oil pump when we removed his.
its allready had new tappets and multiple oil changes without much success.
Well I went for a febi bilstein pump in the end £37 from eurocarparts
Too k the old pump out and stripped it apart and there was scoring and wear marks top and bottom of the gear mating faces so well worth changing, I'm surprised it had pressure at all! (Must be the 15/40 in it)
Just waiting for new rubber gasket to arrive before I can put the sump back together.
Glad you sorted it mate, dont forget to add that the eurocarparts pump doesnt come with plastic baffle so if anyone else is planning on getting one from there, extra caution needed when removing old one!
