Re: Car cover
Conversely, for winter, store it in an area that gets sunshine for a decent part if the day. It helps keep the cover dry and clears any ice etc that just causes more dampness in shady areas that rarely get to dry out.
Slightly off tangent: last Sunday was a warm sunny day for the time of year and my car didn't have its cover on. At sunset, the fog descended in a flash putting a layer of cold condensation on the roof. Although I shouldn't, I put my cover on effectively trapping the dampness in and wetting the insde of the cover - my intention was to lift the cover off to dry it and the car out early this week to start afresh, but the weather conditions haven't allowed this.
Checked under the cover tonight and both the car roof and inside of the cover are bone dry. Cover type? Halfords Advanced All Season. It's clearly breathable.

Re: Car cover
I went for the Medium size after others recommended it on here. I didn't realise that the cover is not front to back symmetric (see the small label) so thought it was too small at first, but after putting it on the correct way round it fits a lot better. Whilst the next size up would be sure to tuck right under the front and back of the car, it would probably be too big and flutter in the wind too much. When I bought mine in Halfords they said I could take it back if I wanted another size.

Re: Car cover
Cool, thank you. Medium sounds good, I've had trouble with ones that are too big in the past.

Re: Car cover
Having just spent a lot of money with Ant at Rust Republic on my Mk1 (money well spent incidentally), I am thinking of buying an indoor car cover to keep dust off. What are peoples' thoughts? What is the risk of it scrubbing the paintwork either whilst fitting or with draughts? Or is it better just to dust it periodically? Would folk recommend going for one with a fleece lining, I'm worried about scuffing from unlined ones?

Re: Car cover
Get a good quality one and it will probably be money well spent. Plenty of owners of big money classics use them. Classic additions covers are meant to be good.

Re: Car cover
Jem, I was going to go down the car cover route but I just can't help standing back and looking at my car.. It would never be on! It's the same with my Lotus. The paint on both cars is still in excellent condition, but I do regularly wax and polish, and my garage has blinds on the windows to prevent UV light getting in. The two of them do get a little dusty over the winter when not used, but a quick dust over with these water-less car polishes soon sorts it.
