Valuation help please!

Post by Rockyroad »

1985 GTS, (Black) recently passed MOT only needing a new rear fog light and changing CV Boots. Milage is around 50,000 but will be 3/4000 more as one of the cogs in the odometer has cracked and only seems to work on cold days. The Milage is genuine up until a year or so ago. Full service and MOT history to back it up. No major issues with paint work, minor signs of wear and tear on the interior but otherwise in pretty good condition for its age.

Would anyone have an estimate of what this is worth? Regretfully selling as ive recently moved to a city and don't need a car at the moment. Obviously I know it doesn't help without a picture, I will try and post something tomorrow morning. Just need a rough idea of valuation if anyone has sold something similar over the last couple of years.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Your difficulty will be the mileage and I suspect it will put a few people off. Otherwise probably in the region of £1500-£2000 depending on actual condition and history (less if it's an auto).

Thanks for your response!

I don't suppose you'd know anyone that could repair the cracked wheel on the odometer? Has anyone else had this problem / got it fixed?

Cheers!

There is a few guides out there but I guess you will need another set of instruments to get spares from.
Later Mk1 golfs and Mk1 golf cabriolet have similar instruments but the electrical connectors may differ. There is also 2 makes VDO and motometer but they may use the same cogs but some other bits you may want for spares at a later date will differ.
Search Mk1 golf odometer repair.

VDO set. You can see the VDO just above the trip reset button.

Not 100% sure but Mk2 golf may be the same ???
