auto to manual conversion
Hey guys in need of a bit of help part way through doing and auto to manual conversion and im now stuck as the driveshafts dont bolt up at all and i have no where to bolt the gearlinkage to, just wondering if anyone can help at all (very desperate) and before anyone says check the faq i have tried and it just comes up with item not found

Im not able to assist but im sure someone else can.
I question why you are bothering? There are so many more manuals out there than auto's. Granted auto's may be 10% cheaper but I just dont get it?

Pretty sure the driveshafts for autos are different to manuals - I'm not sure whether that's the whole thing or just the inner CVs - BOTH have different part numbers on autos. That said, it could be as simple as you have the wrong size output flanges for you driveshafts - 90mm vs 100mm (or vice versa)
Something in the back of my mind tells me that the auto steering rack is missing a bracket. Here's a pic of a manual rack -

yeah i have the correct steering rack in her (has a clutch pedal) its the bit that part no 5 bolts onto/into that im missing, and in regards to the drive shafts does anyone have a ling to the correct ones / inner cvs?? also seem to be missing part 36a if thats essential ?

You don't have the correct steering rack if there is nowhere to bolt no5 to.
You have the manual column (with the pedals attached). But the auto rack (bolted to the firewall behind the engine).
Part 36a is a shield to keep the exhaust heat from drying out the grease on the mechanism, not essential but a good idea to get one. It also protects the mechanism from dirt a little.
Not sure about driveshafts. When i did mine, a few years ago now, I'm pretty sure I used the original ones from the auto but swapped the CV joints over.

I still haven't got round to doing mine despite having the parts for many many years now, however trawling through the paperwork i have i found this write up , so did a bit of google stalking and finally tracked it down in the vortex archive.

Whilst not 'rocco centric it is for a mk1 cabriolet so virtually the same platform and one of the most comprehensive write ups i have found to date and details the different racks and different driveshaft size issues...
Hope it works, i may be in contact if i come across any hurdles as i have promised myself to get this done this year...
