gear linkage slipping!
having an issue with the gear linkage, have fitted new bushes (in the cheaper kit of the 2 from vwheritage without the arms)and ive set the gears with a 15mm gap, I then get all gears and drive off happily, but after a while first gear starts to become difficult to find, and then disappears unless I push the stick down and find it just next to reverse (reverse is still fine at all times) and 2nd becomes harder to find. am I missing something?it doesn't keep on slipping away to the point I lose reverse but it always loses 1st and 2nd. any ideas or help is welcome. yes the clamp is tight on the linkage end.

Re: gear linkage slipping!
ok, ive sorted this one as well, I hate leaving unanswered questions, so, the answer was that the rear gearbox/engine mount had broken, allowing the engine to move excessively which I presume was changing the settings. a new mount has been fitted, linkage set up to 15mm and away she went, perfect gears from then on, no issues at all.

Glad you have found out what it was.
Never thought about the engine/gearbox mount.
