Re: CV BOOT
Depends what size cv joints you have. There are 2 different sizes for both the inner and outer joints.
Best to get under the car and measure.

Re: CV BOOT
i used to get euro car parts universal ones because they will stretch over the cv joint making changing it really easy.
just be sure to use decent metal ties as MOT testers have recently started failing cars for using cable ties to secure them in place, labling them insecure!

Re: CV BOOT
Good to know, I used to use cable ties all the time so I had better make sure I do use the metal clips, I now buy the kit which I posted the link to and they do come with the metal clip, I fitted 2 last year so I should be all right.james butler wrote: be sure to use decent metal ties as MOT testers have recently started failing cars for using cable ties to secure them in place, labling them insecure!

Re: CV BOOT
Nothing in the VOSA manual especially identifying cable ties as a fail
http://www.motinfo.gov.uk/htdocs/m4s02000506.htm
They can fail if the CV boot is insecure, damaged allowing ingress of dirt etc,

Re: CV BOOT
i was just told cable ties are an insecure way of securing cv boots and that my car will fail with them on it, hence why i changed them to metal ones.duggers wrote:Nothing in the VOSA manual especially identifying cable ties as a fail

also every kit i have bought since comes with the metal ties.
you may well be right though as some testers will turn a blind eye

Re: CV BOOT
As said could be your tester has a 'thing' for cable ties as a fault.
I have used them for years and never had an issue and the test has always had the boot inspection as part of it.
I've rarely managed to properly secure those metal bands as I don't have a tool that secures them without knackering or twisting them!
