If I put the accelerator to the floor it revs, then loses revs, up down up down until it conks out. Today after turning the engine off it has continued to run on until I put it into gear and let the clutch off to kill it.
Look up dieseling. Somewhat ironic given that you were thinking of putting a diesel engine in.

yes marc that's again a sign of the old auto choke not doing its shit.....I was amazed when I got my manifold off....the coolant hole rubber that comes with the gasket set has a diameter of at least an inch.....now maybe my car has been sat around sometime as it has 55 thou genuine miles but I kid you not the rubber I took out had more resemblance to an anus than than a washer and only a trickle of water was making the trip to the auto choke....only time she ran good was when whole engine and carb body got hot...in my case there was no 12v supply either...this all meant yes I drove it the 200 miles home from purchase alright (hot everywhere) but local driving she sooted right up (cause of overrun) and died...yesterday finished the job...coolant and 12v....sweet......the wonders of the bi-metallic strip or whatever is inside that choke unit...see you all very soon.

ok here is what mafco have to say
I say yes but we cant all find the mafco units
so we keep the pierburger enrichment system and deal with extra revs needed ourselves

now you can see im not really that mad ditching half my carb...
my big question is is anyone out there an engineer who can make up some nice knurled adjuster screws
it seems they are M5 with a o.5 pitch...that sound right....
either way Nathan how you getting on...
