1986 Red Mk2 GTX 2.0 - The North - £4500

Post by Mr Funk »

Morning,

Selling on behalf of one of the lads that accompanied us to what turned out to be the last Roadstar a couple of years ago. An absolutely cracking car that's been lovingly cared for but is now surplus to requirements. If you're seriously interested give me a shout and I'll put you in contact with Davey.

Model: GTX
Year: D - 1986
Mileage: 114k (Engine has covered 41k and the car has covered 2500 miles in 11 years!)
MOT: 12 months
Location: To follow but it's definitely in the North
Price: £4500
Contact Details: In the first instance, contact me.
Additional Information:

Body Work and Floor Pan (Chassis): The car has undergone a full restoration. The rear arches have been modified, (rolled rear arches). The arches have been stone chipped and sealed. All cavities and inner cills doors, quaters and tailgate inner skins etc wax oiled.

Paintwork and Exterior Trim: The car has had a very rare bodykit fitted which comprises of the following: KAMEI X1 rear spoiler apron and side skirts. ZENDER front apron and ZENDER tailgate bi wing spoiler. These items were fitted to the German spec sciroccos by VW but were only available on certain models and between certain years hence being very difficult to come by. They are also discontinued parts by VW and their manufacturers. A roof mounted bee sting aerial is fitted. The tailgate has been de-badged. The wing mounted aerial removed and blanked. Tinted side repeaters fitted. Clear front repeaters fitted. Fully re-sprayed in Audi Amulet Red (2K).This colour was not available for the MK2 scirocco and to my knowledge makes mine a (one off).

Engine and Components: The engine I have used is a 2.0 8v (AGG) coded ,and was taken from a 1998 Seat Toledo SXE Sport from a reputable salvage yard and the mileage reading for the car was displaying 39946 miles with the service sticker details clarifying it’s the genuine mileage. The engine was purchased on the 25.10.05 to which I have an invoice for. The engine injection system was changed to the early ‘digifant’ system. An inline fuel pump from a Vauxhall runs 3 bar pressure. A cone type K+N filter has been fitted. The original 1.8 engine flywheel has been used and a new sachs clutch. A MK1 Golf GTI 6 stud exhaust manifold and exhaust front pipe. Standard scirocco exhaust mid-section. The rear exhaust is stainless steel with twin rectangular slashed pipes. A new non cat lambda sensor had to be incorporated to the front pipe. Many parts have been painted or polished within the engine bay. To my knowledge, this engine conversion has never been done before to a MK2 Scirocco making the car, unique in its own right.

Gearbox and Drive Shaft: The gearbox is the (AUG) coded close ratio gearbox from a scirocco scala I which uses exactly the same gear ratios as the original item for the GTX model except for the code. It has the original drive shafts fitted with new gaters. Rebushed gear linkage.

Interior, Electrical Equipment and Wiring: The seats and door cards are from a scirocco scala I (designer check).JBL custom fit front speakers. I have fitted neatly some 6/9 inch speakers at the rear where the original 4/6 inch items were leaving the original speaker grills in place. Only visible with the boot open. Non original audio system fitted. Wiring harness for engine and ancillaries all solder jointed and shrink rapped. New pre wired ECU relay. ECU located and secured under scuttle panel below rain tray.

Suspension and Braking System: The braking system has been changed completely to give better performance against the original system which was poor. It comprises of new copper brake lines throughout, A MK2 Golf 16v servo, Audi 22mm 4 outlet master cylinder, Audi coupe carrier and callipers with 256mm discs, MK2 golf rear stub axles, MK2 Golf rear carrier and callipers with 226mm discs. Scirocco MK” 16v handbrake cables. The suspension has new KW stainless steel coilovers fitted and new strut top bearing mounts. The car at the moment has only been lowered fractionally, less than approx 25mm leaving good ground clearance and sharp handling.

Wheels and Tyres: New set of Ronal turbo R10 polished wheels with new Toyo proxy 4 tyres 195 50 15inch staggered offset front ET37 rear ET28 Set of locking wheel bolts.

There has been a huge amount of work and a lot man hours spent already on this car with many mechanical parts being renewed, painted, polished etc.

There is an extensive folder of service history, old mot certificates and receipts for the majority of parts fitted to this car. The A4 ring binder folder has burst at the seams!

My scirocco has been entered into only 3 show and shine competitions over the years in this country and I was awarded trophies in each case. These results should confirm the excellent condition this car is in!
