I know there's already a post regarding gearbox ratios but I can't make sense of it.
Anyway is it true that the Scirocco gtx has a shorter ratio gearbox?

The GTX has a 5 speed sports gearbox (as do all the injection cars!) whereas the GT 1.6 and GL 1.6 had a 4+E economy gearbox as did the GTL. When the GT went to 1.8 it was fitted with the 5 speed sports box.

I bought a reconditioned box but I don't know who done it or how long ago. So im split between putting that I or the original gearbox.

I'm looking for a gearbox if it's no good for you.
Start off slow and methodical, that doesn't work so shout curse and hit it till it works.
