No. I wasted my money on a new coil and a new distributor when all my car needed was the ignition amp.

Sadly the problem continues. New module fitted, 100 yds up the road, car dies.
I'm wondering if I've got 2 things going wrong.
Checked spark at plugs and that's all fine, so coil must be ok.

Now, back on the fuel.
Fuel lines checked and all pumping fine. Carb seems dry...
Pour fuel into top of carb...car starts.

I'm now thinking there may be an issue with the floats sticking when they have shut the float valve?

Looks like another carb stripdown!!!

Before stripping the carb again, I'd be tempted just to open the tank again and double check for water and/or rust floating about in there, and make sure the pick up strainer is clear

I'm sure its not dirt. The inline filter is spotless and we get good flow to and from the pump.
I think the floats are catching and stopping the needle valve, probably due to me being heavy handed during the last few rebuilds.

I've also noticed the new needle valve doesn't have any holes on the side like the old one. Do you know if that's just a design change or a faulty valve?

Either way I think I'll put the old needle valve back in and try and set the float up properly.

Carb stripped and float valve had jammed. I also noticed the top of it, where the ball bearing is, was damaged, so swapped for old one.
Tested by blowing into it and it seemed ok so replaced and running great.

Will do a longer test tomorrow to see if the ignition module has done its job.

I guess I created a problem whilst fixing another, but its gonna be a few days driving before I trust it.
