Rusty Bones
Had the drivers wheel off this morning contemplating adding poly bushes that came with the car. I noticed the drive shaft was resting on something. There is a rubber bush on top of the wishbone that did have a metal bracket over it but the bracket has snapped / rusted away.
My question is what is this rubber on top of the wishbone used for and what is the easiest solution to get it back to how it should be: Weld a new bracket on? New wishbone?
Is it something seriously wrong? Because it doesn't seem to fulfil any function where it is apart from being a rest for the drive shaft!

Start off slow and methodical, that doesn't work so shout curse and hit it till it works.

Re: Rusty Bones
Sounds like its the anti roll bar bush, is there a round metal bar going through this bush?

Nothing just the rubber and snapped bracket.

Click the top discription.
If it is number 15 it is the outer ARB bracket.

Looks like 17 pipe clip and 15 rubber mounting. Hmm if that's the case I'm missing an ARB!

Re: Rusty Bones
I looked at this again and I'd just not been able to see the ARB fully when I'd had a quick look.
Has anyone ever changed these brackets? I can't work out how to remove them. They are attached with bolts underneath the wishbone but the thread seems to 'be part of the wishbone itself and I can't work out how to get the unit out as its part of the wishbone as far as I can tell

Re: Rusty Bones
they're just u shaped clamps with nuts on the other side of the wishbone. nuts off then persuade out with a knockometer
Re: Rusty Bones
So the plate that is on the top side where each end of the bracket connected will just come off with a good belt from beneath on the bolt? Cool, I did think that but the plate didnt budge when I waggled the bolt from below, its hopefully just full of crap and that's why it's seized.
Thought it best to check before getting energetic with 'old faithful'.
