hello folks any tips on removing a wing on my mk2 ? i heard its a nightmare of a job i may need a box of plasters

I did it on my car a few years ago...

I am pretty kack-handed and I managed it

Just make sure all bolts are removed (including from the door shuts and behind the bumper, and all the wheel arch liner screws are out too.

VW put a load of sealer in to keep them in place so some brute force may also be required!

I've helped fit one and can confirm that VW got a bit giddy with the sealant!!!!!

If you have a body kit on it then it'll be pain to get the kit to lock together, good luck ;)

Way late on this one, but if it helps anyone I used a hot air gun to get the sealant smoking (literally!). You can then scrape off the sealant and pull the wing away a lot easier.

fire is the answer! get a blow torch on it to soften the sealer and scrape off.

i know people say vw went muts with the sealant, but i bet no one has ever found rust under the facory sealant
