Mk1 Storm reboot
Long story short, I bought this from the 2rd owner (who had had it 18 years) in Nov 2004, did a few things to it and then sold it in Mar 2005 to Ryan. See the following thread for what Ryan did next

So, FFWD 6.5 years and the car was once again mine. However, due to living in the US, the car sat at my brothers until September 2012. Unfortunately it failed the MOT miserably and it was once again consigned to sit - this time at the Rocco Grotto - where the Autoad worked his welding magic and delivered it back to me last month with a fresh MOT
It was then trapped in the drive for 3 weeks due to builder's skips/material
Finally I got to drive it last week - after nearly a year and a half of ownership and it was most definitely worth the wait
As luck would have it, one of the first things I noticed was that the blower was dead on all 3 speeds. Applying 12v direct to the motor did nothing so the only conclusion was dead motor. Given that I'd be dismantling everything anyway I thought I may as well replace the heater matrix too. Quite surprisingly it turned out the VWH were by far the cheapest supplier - and the quickest. Parts ordered yesterday, arrived this morning and fitted this afternoon.
Talking of quick delivery - my new wheels were ordered on Tuesday and also arrived this morning

Well, 7Jx15 ET20 certainly fills up the rear arches a treat

No problem. The great thing about these wheels (Lenso BSX) is that the offset is custom - all wheels start off ET20 and then you specify what you want.GTXTRA wrote:May need to pop over and have a closer look at that set up offset wise Sean.

Re: Mk1 Storm reboot
Today I are mostly been replacing cooling system parts. I had a slight leak on the way back from Bromley on Sunday. The leak was easy to spot (see the rusted-to-fcuk connector top left) but I was worried that something else had caused it to overheat. Anyway, no point troubleshooting when replacing everything only takes 20 minutes
So, no leak from the new parts but one of the other hoses decided to spring a leak. Quick and dirty solution -
Replacement hose will get here next week.

Re: Mk1 Storm reboot
After a period in storage the Storm has now gone to pastures new. Well, not so new but I'm sure all will be revealed in due course.
