Don't forget there's a small cone shaped mesh filter stuck up the pipe where the flexible fuel hose joins the pierburg. Take the flexible off and remove mesh filter with a small electrical screwdriver.

Haha cheers mate really getting to me this car hears what I've changed now

So filler neck was shot sorted out
Magnet fished the tank
Cleaned out sender
Changed inline filter and pierburg filter
Changed fuel pump
Changed dizzy... And cap and arm and leads an plugs
Changed ignition amp
Changed coil
Set carb on colourtune to flash blue when engine was warm
Set dizzy timing so strobe flashed bang on with the vaccum removed and blanked when doing it
O yeah and I changed the carb as original was past it
Think thats about it

And yes yesterday and today I break down everywhere I go after like 2mins asif it's running out of petrol but I fill my car up every week to the top it's just over 3 quarters now I'm lost now dunno what to do please help ....


When it cuts out it will not start straight back up u have to wait 3mins roughly then turn the key and u get like 2-3mins then gone agen

And just cleaned the little filter out now I'm lost to what it can be

Hi, been watching this.

Next time it stops running, open the petrol filler cap and do it back up, again. then try and start it again. If you hear a rush of air when you release the cap and it restarts let me know.

Hi I will let you know mate gotta get the Mrs from work at 545 so should know then

Also fitted a magnet to the bottom of the sender unit to catch any rust I missed

Also changed coil again as had another one so will c what happens


On a golf I had my fuel filter was always half full but on this when it starts up looks empty hmmmm..

Does the fuel swirl pot look new as the restrictors on the new ones from GSF are larger than they should be causing lots of fuel to starve the carb and go back to the tank

O right cheers mate will av a look... And I've made it to wednesbury wivout it breaking down I done a second clean ov the tank with a magnet then I made two sides ov the holes in pipe on sender bigger and cable tied athe magnet to that to catch the rust left

I did also change the red coolent sensor as I haddnt done that
So unsure what the fix is at the min touch wood it is tho
