Since hooking up the Alpine head unit to the lovely amp what I got off of Jim-Bob, I've noticed that at higher volumes the back-lit buttons on the Alpine pulse in time with the bass.
This can't be right, can it? What have I done wrong?

Re: Lights on head unit pulsing
I've heard of some high-power Alpine units doing this. I think the answer is to run it's own +ve feed wire from the battery.

the wiring that runs to it isn't up to the job of powering it. you need to run a new (chunky) wire from the battery to the unswitched connection to the stereo, via a fuse fitted close to the battery

doesn't need to be as big as the cable used for wiring in amps. something roughly twice the size of the original should be more than plenty
