I'm still in 2 minds about the advisory system on the mot test. I think there needs to be guidelines on what should be advised. A tyre worn to 2mm would be fair enough, but signs of corrosion on springs could mean anything. It could mean that the paint has chipped and there is some surface rust, or it could mean that they're likely to snap if you hit a decent pot hole. There are also lots of testers out there who advise on far too many things, that really aren't a problem. I suspect some of this is going to be an attempt to generate income [\drunk rant]iroberts696 wrote:Got an mot advisory of 'springs showing signs of corrosion'

Off topic.
The passenger door on my 205 creaked, one day the top hinge pin snapped when a friend got back in at a petrol station, so he spent the journey home hanging onto the handle just in case! The door was gaffa taped up for a few days while new pins were on order and passengers climbed through the window.
Regarding the springs, guess you need to take a look at them really, post some photos if you can and someone can advise better then. All you may need are some good quality new dampers, bump stops and top mounts, if you want to keep it comfortable.
